4th Wall is proud to put on our 4th installment in our gothic horror universe. This particular play is the first non-adaptation and instead focuses on the backstory of one of our original characters. This one is written as an epic fantasy, featuring a grove of druids, an evil sorcerer, a guardsman investigating the trail of bodies left behind in the chaos and a blooming romance! A female driven show, this helps open our created universe even wider for those that have followed our Frankenstein, Beauty and the Beast: Not Your Parents’ Fairy Tale and The Grotesque of Notre Dame.
Auditions and rehearsals will take place at Oaklandon Unitarian Universalist Church in Lawrence and the show will be November 13th-15th at Fonseca Theatre, 2508 W. Michigan Street. Please come with a prepared monologue and ready to read sides from the show. Headshots and resumes are not required but will be accepted.
Character List
Moira - (f): 18-25 - Young woman brimming with mystical powers. Her ambitions are brought short by her master, who keeps her under his thumb, but she meets a mystical creature who introduces her to a sisterhood and helps release her from her master’s clutches.
Gwydion - (m): 20-30 - Mysterious mystical creature who captures Moira’s heart. He has a bright energy and isn’t afraid to stand up for the ones he loves.
Torren - (m): 40+ - Moira’s mystical arts instructor. He is charming and knowledgeable but there is a darkness behind his pleasant mask.
Willow - (f): 20+ - The wisest druid of the grove, serves as the leader and advisor. She is patient and well grounded, fully embracing the democracy that druidic magic requires to function properly.
Rowan - (f): 20+ - Willow’s love. Fiercely loyal to the grove but overly suspicious and quick to temper. She does not trust Moira due to her past.
Hazel - (f): 20+ - Former student of Torren’s, she left because she was too independent for his method of education. She has a friendly, open nature and is not afraid to speak up or protect others.
Juniper - (f): 18-25 - Youngest member of the grove, still coming into her powers and is unsure of herself and shy. Has a deeply hidden power not yet to be realized.
Mattheson* - (m): 25+ - Member of the King’s guard sanctioned to investigate a crime, opening up his realization of the mystical world and its creatures.
Iona* - (f): 18-25 - Moira’s childhood friend, who seeks her out as an adult and is surprised at the changes she finds.
Young Moira* - (f): 14-16 - Eager to learn and full of life. Is kind to everyone.
King James* - (m): 30+ - Prudent and kind monarch who is only interested in maintaining peace and creating art.
Duncan* - (m): 30+ - Moira’s father.
Agnes* - (f): 30+ - Moira’s mother.
Young Iona* - (f): 14-16 - No magical powers but is Moira’s best friend growing up.
Mrs. Breck* - (f): 30+ - A neighbor in Moira’s village.
Soldiers* - (m): Any - King James’ soldiers.
